Ray’s Story at Aspex Gallery Portsmouth 27 Mar - 7 Jun 2026

In 2026 my work was shown as part of Inside, an immersive, participatory exhibition at Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth. The exhibition explored the meaning of home to people living with learning disabilities in Portsmouth. I was commissioned by This New Ground UK to create works responding to interviews which formed part of an oral history project, and chose to focus on the story of Ray, a local man who spent 25 years in Coldeast psychiatric hospital. I created a series of text pieces in stark black and white, based on Ray’s own words. As part of the exhibition, a version of Ray’s Story was printed and offered to attendees. One of my pieces was used for a flag flown along Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth.
